Morgan Rolls purchasing – separate rings and complete shafts
We purchase Morgan Rolls carbide roll rings, including worn pieces and larger stocks. We also handle complete steel shafts with welded-on or fitted carbide parts.
Morgan Rolls are carbide roll rings
In high-speed rolling blocks for wire and rod production, tungsten-carbide rolls / roll rings are used because of their high wear resistance. After being taken out of service, they remain valuable carbide material.
We purchase two main forms
- separate Morgan Rolls / roll rings – loose carbide rings
- Morgan Rolls on steel shafts – complete assemblies with welded-on or fitted carbide parts
- worn, cracked and rusty rings
- different diameters, profiles and stock inventories
Separate rings and complete shafts are not the same
With loose carbide rings, the high carbide content is immediately apparent. With a complete shaft, the ratio of steel carrier to carbide part must be assessed. We therefore value these materials differently.
We can also process the shafts
Suitable assemblies can be technologically processed – separating or releasing carbide parts, reducing size and preparing them for the next recycling stage. Processing is also available as a standalone service by agreement.

Why roll rings are made from carbide
In high-speed rolling blocks, the working surface must withstand extreme wear while maintaining a precise profile. This is why tungsten-carbide roll rings are used in selected systems. Once the wear limit is reached, they are removed from production but remain valuable as material.
Stocks may contain smooth and profiled rings, different diameters and complete shafts. Separate carbide rings are the simplest for purchasing; with shafts, the massive steel part must be taken into account and suitable pre-processing selected.
Two modes
Separate roll ring: high carbide content, straightforward material classification.
Rolls on a shaft: a combined assembly where separation and size reduction are relevant.
Roll rings are typical high-value hardmetal scrap
Carbide roll rings operate in applications with high pressure, speed and wear. After removal from service they therefore remain an important secondary raw material. We purchase separate rings as well as more complex assemblies with steel components.
For complete shafts, it is essential to distinguish total assembly weight from actual carbide content. We therefore assess these stocks differently from loose individual roll rings.
Rolling mills may also offer other carbide
In addition to Morgan Rolls, operations may contain guide, sizing and other wear-resistant carbide parts. If you are unsure of the exact name, offer the material by origin and quantity.

Frequently asked questions
Do you purchase separate Morgan Rolls?
Yes. Separate carbide roll rings are a standard carbide material that we purchase.
Do you also purchase Morgan Rolls welded onto steel shafts?
Yes. Complete assemblies are assessed according to construction and carbide proportion.
Can you dismantle or process the shafts?
For suitable material, yes. We offer technological processing, separation of the carbide part and size reduction by agreement.
Quick guide to our purchasing categories
Full rolls and large assemblies
In addition to standalone Morgan Rolls, we also accept complete rolls and larger assemblies. For combined pieces we handle material separation, removal of metal parts and sorting according to the specific material type. Detailed processing know-how is not published.
Do you have this material for sale?
For a specific offer, we need the material type, approximate quantity and location. For larger stocks, we also arrange logistics.
