Mining and milling picks
Complete used picks and separated carbide tips. For suitable jobs we can separate the steel part and then clean the carbide components.
We specialise in technological processing of carbide inputs that are unsuitable for direct material use because of steel carriers, brazing alloy, size or composite construction. We design the solution according to the input type and required output.
Depending on the customer's commercial objective, we choose one of two modes. We either purchase the material in its current condition, or for suitable jobs carry out technological reprocessing and handle the output under pre-agreed terms.
Suitable for customers who want a simple settlement without further handling of the waste.
Suitable where the customer needs to separate the carbide fraction or reduce the material size.
For specific materials, the technological step can be combined with a subsequent commercial transaction by agreement.
For mixed and composite waste, the first step is correct material classification. Based on form, construction and available information, we separate material groups and decide whether direct purchase, reprocessing or a combined model makes more sense.
We work with part markings, material origin, tool construction and, where needed, material analysis.
Carbide hard scrap, brazed parts, welded assemblies, soft scrap, tungsten alloys and HSS require different valuation and processing methods.
The customer knows in advance whether the material is being sold in its current condition or submitted for technological processing as a separate service.
Road-milling picks, mining components, brazed tools and other composite parts contain carbide in only part of their total weight. Processing aims to separate this valuable fraction from steel and other carrier materials.

In older turning tools, brazed tools and other parts, carbide may be bonded to steel with brazing alloy. For further material use, it is important to separate the carbide fraction and remove brazing residues as needed.
In used milling heads and other composite tools, valuable carbide is often firmly bonded to the metal body.
We purchase these materials in their original condition and, depending on the construction, can also accept them for processing. The goal is to separate the carbide fraction from the carrier and prepare individual material fractions for further use.

After carbide saw tips are separated from the steel body, oil, grease and fine process contamination may remain on the WC-Co material. We therefore degrease, clean and sort the material as required. The result is a cleaner and more controllable carbide fraction for further material use.

Large drilling heads, oversized carbide pieces or shaft assemblies may be unsuitable for further handling and recycling in their original dimensions. For selected materials, we carry out mechanical size reduction and crushing.

For suitable WNi materials, we also perform size reduction and crushing. The service can be combined with purchasing or provided as standalone reprocessing of customer material.
The customer receives a clearly defined acceptance method and agreed output form.

A different process makes sense for clean VBD inserts than for brazed tools, picks on steel bodies, Morgan Rolls on shafts or oversized drilling heads. Processing therefore starts not with a machine, but with correct input classification.
Material type, quantity, origin and form.
Hard scrap, soft scrap, composite assemblies, W alloys.
Release of the valuable carbide fraction from carriers.
Removal of brazing residues and unwanted impurities according to input type.
Size processing of robust and oversized assemblies.
Separated and easier-to-handle material fraction.
In industrial recycling chains, both direct purchase of secondary raw material and reprocessing of customer material are common. We select the appropriate commercial model according to the specific material.
We accept the material as our own input and determine the price according to type, quantity and condition.
For suitable jobs, we perform the agreed processing step while the material remains part of the customer's material flow.
For more complex stocks, sorting, processing, purchasing and logistics can be combined by agreement.
Industrial tungsten recycling is not a single universal process. Technical literature distinguishes direct recycling, chemical (indirect) recycling, semi-direct routes and smelting metallurgy. The choice of subsequent processing depends primarily on waste form, cleanliness, composition and degree of contamination.
SK/VBD inserts, solid-carbide drills and end mills, drawing dies, dies, wear parts and other solid WC-Co components. Well-sorted and clean material creates better conditions for efficient downstream recycling.
Fine production waste requires a different assessment. In industrial recycling chains, chemical conversion routes are often used for soft scrap and can also handle more complex inputs.
For milling picks, mining tools and brazed parts, pre-processing is a key step: dismantling, steel separation, removal of brazing alloy and concentration of the valuable carbide fraction.
Technical sources note that tungsten can be lost mainly through wear, dilution in another metal stream or disposal without separation. It therefore makes sense to capture tungsten-bearing material at the source, identify it correctly and separate it from steel or other carriers.
In addition to standard inserts and solid-carbide tools, we also handle heavy and combined industrial parts. With these inputs, the valuable carbide or tungsten portion must be separated from steel carriers, contamination or other structural parts. The exact procedure depends on the material.
Complete used picks and separated carbide tips. For suitable jobs we can separate the steel part and then clean the carbide components.
Complete dies and other combined forming parts where carbide is joined to a metal housing. Material separation of the individual parts can be handled as a service.
We also accept large rolls and oversized forms. For combined assemblies we can handle separation of metal parts, material sorting and suitable dimensional preparation.
Complete or worn mining and drilling crowns with carbide working parts. The material is assessed according to construction and the actual carbide content.
Combined ring assemblies where the metal part can be separated from the carbide ring. Suitability for processing is assessed individually.
Oversized and long drilling tools, including combined pieces with metal parts. Sorting and separation of individual material components can be arranged.
These are exactly the materials that benefit from a technological assessment. Contact us and we will discuss the construction, quantity and required result.
